Teaching procedures:

 Step 1 Greetings

 Step 2 Warming-up

Name the places in the pictures.

Using some pictures to learn school facilities, such as car park, lab, classroom, library, lecture hall

Step 3 Reading

• Look at the map and read Wei Hua’s thoughts. While you are reading on P 6

•Review

the way of asking the way

1. Excuse me,  can you tell me the way to …?

2. Excuse me, which is the nearest way to …?

3. Excuse me, how can I get to / arrive at /  reach…?

4. Excuse me, where is the nearest hospital / post office ?

The way of answering

1.     Walk towards / past …/ and then walk between.. and … You will find … at the end of the road.

2.     Turn left / right, and walk straight / right / directly on.

3.     Take the second turning on the right. / Turn left at the second turning.

4.     At the end of the first / second crossing, you will find it on your right / left. You can’t miss it.

5.     Take No. 5 bus and get off at the second bus stop. It’s about half an hour’s walk / drive.

•1. Look at the map, ask your partner how to get to the following places and then check if it is the quickest way.

Discuss and present the dialogue by students then give the sample answer

Sample answer:

  If you are standing at the door of the dormitories, first turn right and go past the medical centre and the gym, then turn right and walk until the end of the road. Classroom 4 is on your left.

Then complete P7 and check answers
