Thoughts on the design: (设计思路)
本课旨在加强学生对动物感官的了解。学生通过文章的阅读,积累一定的语言素材,在与同伴合作的基础上,共同完成情景剧表演。并在讨论中探讨如何保护动物以及对环境保护的理解,并引导学生形成积极正面的保护动物、保护环境的观念,以此达到情感提升的目的。
Teaching Aims:(教学目标)
1. Knowledge aim: To get acquaintance with sharks and animals’ senses.
2. Ability aim: 1) To develop reading ability.
2) To produce a TV show about animals’ senses.
3. Emotional aim: 1)To develop the feelings of loving animals and nature.
2)To learn how to cooperate with others.
Teaching Important and Difficult Points:(教学重难点)
1. To let students express their opinions fully and freely.
2. To encourage students to present performances.

Teaching procedures:(教学过程)
Step 1. Greetings and lead in
Greet the whole class.
T: The topic of this unit is the world of our senses. We have already learnt human beings’ five senses. What are they? (write them on the Bb) But,as we all know, animals also have developed their own unique senses over the long process of evolution . Do you know what kind of animals have unique sense? (Get students to answer it.)
T: So these senses enable them to survive their environments. What about sharks? When we talk about sharks, what will come to your mind? Let’s have a brainstorming.
Step 2. Reading
T: To know more about sharks, we’d better read the passage.
Task 1. Fast reading
Go through the passage quickly and answer questions. (You don’t need to read aloud.)
1. What’s the most dangerous shark?
2. Do sharks always attack humans?
3. Why have shark attacks been increasing?
Task 2. Careful reading
Read the text again and try to find out the main idea of each paragraph.
Para. 1: Different types of sharks.
Para. 2: Three types of shark attacks.
Para. 3: Suggestions to reduce the risk of a shark attack
Para. 4: Advice to help you if a shark attacks you
Para. 5: Don’t be frightened by sharks.
T: Now, let’s deal with the passage paragraph by paragraph.
Step 3. Project
T: So much for the understanding of the passage. Now, with the information about the shark’s senses, let’s move on to producing a TV show. Do you know how to produce a TV show? Here are the procedures.
1. Decide the type of show.
2. The content of the show.
3. Collect information.
4. Prepare equipments/ tools.
5. Assignment (different roles)
6. Time limit (about 3 minutes)
T: Now you have already read the passage about sharks; you can produce a show according to the passage, or you can just use your imagination to create a lot of activities! For example, two sharks fight for food, and so on.
(Give students several minutes to prepare for the show, and then ask several groups to perform.)
T: (Comment on the shows)
Step 4. Discussion
T: Have you ever thought of the question, “What is the relationship between the human beings and sharks?” Let’s watch a TV show about sharks.
T: What did you see just now? (shark fin soup) So please discuss with your partners: How to protect sharks?
Step 5. Homework
Write a short passage on protecting sharks.
